Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson - An Historic Convention in the Making

Welcome to the 125th Knights of Columbus Supreme Convention Blog. We began a blog this year to allow people everywhere to follow the events of our Supreme Convention from a variety of perspectives, and to allow those people to contribute to the convention by giving them the ability to make relevant comments, ask questions, and actively participate in the Convention, even if they are unable to attend the events in Nashville.

Our 125th anniversary is a historic occasion, and we are making history this year as we celebrate this milestone. Our 125th Convention will be the most visible convention in the history of the Knights of Columbus. Several media outlets are broadcasting from our convention, including EWTN, Salt and Light Television (Canada) and The Catholic Channel of Sirius Satellite Radio. In addition we have reporters from around the United States, as well as from news outlets in Europe and Latin America covering our events the print and online publications.

I hope you will tell your family and friends to follow to the coverage of our convention and learn more about the Knights of Columbus and the wonderful work that our members do throughout the world. The coverage schedules can be accessed at www.kofc.org/un/eb/en/convention_2007/broadcast.html

This year, we are particularly honored to have Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone coming to the United States for our convention. He will say our opening Convention Mass on Tuesday, and will receive the Knights´ highest honor – the Gaudium et Spes Award – Tuesday night, when he will make brief remarks as well.

We are also very pleased to have with us members from countries around the world including: the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and our newest jurisdiction, Poland.

If you are not here with us in Tennessee, I welcome you to join us virtually – via the media, the Internet, and this blog – as we celebrate 125 years of faith in action at our Supreme Convention.

Praise the Lord Jesus for his Yes to God his Father and ours – showing us his brethren how to be in communion with one another and united in love with their Holy Spirit!

The 125th Supreme Convention in Nashville, TN – my first to watch and experience through the miracle of technology –was a rare event I will forever cherish.

Congratulations to all the planners, leaders, the ladies, and all collaborators who made this momentous event such an inspiration to all those who seek to follow the Lord Jesus!

I cannot express how overwhelmed I was with joy and emotion in watching the entire address by Mr. Anderson – what a great gift to the Knights and to our Church!! And I am so happy that EWTN carried this great expose on the K of C – I must confess as a life-long practicing Catholic I had no idea of the breadth and scope of what the Knights are all about, what they stand for, and what they have done!! Wow! May God bless the Knights organization ten-fold and bring about a great increase in its membership and endeavors and blessings to themselves and to our world... I can tell you that after having watched Mr. Anderson's dynamic address, I would have immediately applied for membership myself - but I am a woman, and thus am instead encouraging my husband to join and get involved! Thank you, K of C, for all you do for us, for your witness, for your stand and support in the teaching magisterium of our beloved Church! Congratulations on 125 glorious and grace-filled years; may God bless you all, eternally!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the 125th convention on Salt & Light and EWTN, I have access to both,What a wonderful experience. Although I could not attend I was there in spirit. I am planning on attending Quebec City in 2008 it's only a short drive up the 401.I hope many men who are not Knights were watching this can only help at membership time.

I watched the rebroadcast of the opening mass last night on EWTN. I ended up watching the video presentations until 3AM. It was well worth it. It's wonderful being a member of this great organization.

Congratulations on the convention!

2 of our Brothers Knights, Tom Thomas and Lane Freestone, are working to bring better healthcare in Uganda. Below is a small summary, and there website to find more information about their efforts is: http://www.holyinnocentsuganda.org/Default.htm

Holy Innocents Children–s Malaria Hospital Uganda, Inc. was incorporated with a mission to bring better health to all children of Mbarara, Uganda and its surrounding villages through better medical care and prevention. We´re non–profit, non-sectarian and non-political, with only one focus: better health for a better life for children in one small part of the world. One hundred percent of our time and effort is focused on achieving this objective via our fundraising and training activities to support the building, staffing and operation of a children´s malaria hospital in Mbarara, Uganda.

Thank you EWTN for broadcasting the 125th Supreme Convention. The coverage has been fantastic! What a recruiting tool for anyone who is interested in joining our honored Order of Catholic Gentleman! Vivat Jesus!

Congratulations on the convention. I have Time Warner Cable, but EWTN is one is apart of one the higher packages for viewing. So I will have to try one of the online links that you mention on the KofC site.
Please pray for unity in the San Diego Diocese. Our diocese is going through bankruptcy and praying that everything turns out well. We as Knights, can set the example and let everybody know what Catholics are doing in the community.

Congratulations Brother Knights All on having the Convention in Nashville and celebrating 125 years of Fr. McGivney's dream of Love and Service to people all over the world. My Wife Linda and I could not physically attend this year, we will watch in TV and be there in spirit. We will attend the next year´s convention in Quebec. have a Great time, God Bless all of you!

Like many we were with you in Nashville but since we cannot be there in person we are excited to be able to join you via EWTN.

Please remember in your prayers our Brother Knight Peter Hausemann, Rosemount Council who is one of the missing victims of the I 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis.

I hope you have a great conevention and I'll be watching it on EWTN!

Hello,
I would like to thank the Knights of Columbus for their commendable works of charity. You not only express concern and compassion for worldwide needs, but you put that concern and compassion to action. Congratulations on celebrating your 125th Anniversary! Best of luck!
