St. Anthony Council 9770 in Frankfort donated $1,500 to Father John Hannigan, a military chaplain and member of Harry G. Johansing Council 4482 in Twenty Nine Palms, Calif. Father Hannigan is a Chicago priest who is stationed at the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twenty Nine Palms. Council 9770 had previously supported Father Hannigan during his tour of duty in Iraq. Father Hannigan will use the funds to purchase resources for his Bible classes at the MCAGCC.

Two councils recently added Naval Academy cadets to their ranks. Zachary Bauer joined Frankfort (Ky.) Council 1483 and has since taken his Second and Third degrees. Bauer is a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and the son of Past Grand Knight Robert Bauer. Steven Fusswinkel joined St. Mary’s/Maris Stella Council 2228 in Lynbrook, N.Y. Fusswinkel joined the council during a special exemplification scheduled during his holiday leave.

While home on leave for Christmas, Marine Nathaniel Hilton joined Msgr. Newman Council 4665 in Shively at a special exemplification arranged by the state council.

Members of Lt. Gen. Timothy J. Maude Council 10292 in Mannheim-Heidelberg, Germany, visited the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center on Thanksgiving. Knights met with wounded veterans and distributed baked goods to hospital staff, patients and their families.

Michael Richardson of Father Emil J. Kapaun Council 11987 at the Kaiserslautern Military Community in Germany separates donated clothing along with Brice Bader during a council-sponsored drive. Knights, their families and youth volunteers sorted used clothes, school supplies and toys for delivery to Iraqi Catholics prior to Christmas.

A youngster from the Chusin Orphanage receives a present from Santa Claus during a Christmas party hosted by Twenty-Six Martyrs Council 12970 at the Atsugi Naval Air Facility in Japan. Knights hosted the party for 47 orphans — ages four to 18 — who would otherwise not have received presents.
