Msgr. Francis J. Desmond Council 13348 in Lewes hosted its annual Souper Bowl event to benefit the Casa San Francisco food pantry. Knights and religious education students from St. Jude the Apostle Church collected more than 600 pounds of nonperishable food items.

St. Anthony Council 417 in Washington, D.C., co-hosted an inauguration party Jan. 19 with its parish. The event included live entertainment, food and dancing to commemorate the election and swearing-in of new U.S. President Barack Obama. Proceeds from the event were added to the councils charitable fund.
American University Council 14465 in Washington, D.C., hosts a weekly holy hour and mens retreat for the universitys Catholic community. Catholics come together to pray, eat dinner and discuss their faith.

Santa Maria Council 1179 in Mount Holly hosted a pro-life baby shower to benefit First Way of Burlington County. The event raised more than $560 in addition to other baby items like formula and diapers.
Grand Knight Bill Flynn of Ocean City Council 2560 traveled to Orissa, India, for five weeks in January and February to teach English and computer science to seminarians at the Shanti Bhavan Seminary. The seminary receives ongoing support from the Knights of Columbus Father Francis P. Araneo Chapter and from local parishioners.
Annunciation Council 3826 in Beach Haven held a rock concert that raised $1,290 for St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
Cherry Hill Council 6173 held its 38th annual spelling bee on Feb. 1.
South Plainfield Council 6203 held a brunch Feb. 7 in conjunction with the Red Hat Society. More than 50 people attended the event, proceeds from which were added to the councils charitable fund.
For the fifth consecutive year, Cranford Council 6226 sponsored a bus to the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. Funds for the trip were raised at the councils annual golf outing.
Father John P. Wessel Council 6530 in Marlton held its annual Roses for Life sale Jan. 17-18 at St. Joan of Arc Church. The event raised $1,444 for First Way of Burlington County.

Mary Immaculate Council 12769 in Secaucus presented its chaplain, Father Joseph Pietropinto, with a K of C jacket. Father Pietropinto also serves as the faithful friar of Msgr. Peter B. OConnor Assembly in North Arlington. Knights also raised $2,400 for pregnancy resource centers in the area by co-hosting a baby bottle drive with Secaucus People to People.

Alfred E. Smith Council 3005 in Elmont supports two seminarians, Harold Naviello and Steve George, as they study for the priesthood. Knights donated funds that were raised at council-sponsored events to support the seminarians.
Sacred Heart Council 4402 in Selden and its ladies auxiliary hosted a spaghetti dinner to benefit Christopher Callahan, a local boy who has muscular dystrophy. The event raised $9,327 to help offset the familys medical and travel expenses. Callahans grandparents are both very involved with Council 4402.
St. Anastasia Council 5911 in Douglaston hosted a vocations Mass at its parish Jan. 25. Seminarian Stanley Celius spoke about his studies for the priesthood, and the council presented him with a $500 Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) scholarship.
Mother Cabrini Council 7278 in Coram actively sponsors a weekly bingo game that is used to fund the councils charitable endeavors. The council also erected a statue of Mother Cabrini outside its parish.

Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of Harrisburg blesses a Project Moses Ten Commandments monument at St. John the Baptist Church while an honor guard from Father Cyril Allwein Assembly in Hanover looks on. St. John the Baptist Council 8891 received the monument from Dundalk (Md.) Council 2942 and raised additional funds to place it at the church. Representatives from both councils were present at the dedication. Bishop Rhoades is a member of St. Patrick Cathedral Council 11008.

Members of St. John Neuman Assembly in Bristol look on as members of the Cherokee Nation participate in a celebration to observe the 150th birthday of St. Katharine Drexel. Knights, Native Americans and Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament all participated in the event. St. Katharine Drexel was beatified by Pope John Paul II on Nov. 20, 1988, in part for her work with Native Americans and African Americans.

Father Denys Baron Assembly in Pittsburgh provided an honor guard for a Mass celebrating the 50th ordination anniversary of Father Thaddeus Ted Maida. Father Madias brother, Cardinal Adam J. Maida of Detroit, came to concelebrate the anniversary Mass.
Trinity Council 313 in Bethlehem raised $3,400 for Special Olympics during the councils annual fund drive for people with intellectual disabilities.
Columbia Council 2294 presented a $2,000 donation to Our Lady of the Angels School in honor of Catholic Schools Week. This continues a 20-year tradition of Knights donating $2,000 to a local school each year during Catholic Schools Week.
Bethel Park Council 3084 sponsored Deacon Larry Sutton at its council hall to deliver a talk on his sacramental program for students with autism. Deacon Sutton is a clinical psychologist and works with students at Our Lady of Grace Church.
St. Elizabeth Council 13141 in Upper Uwchlan held a vocations fair Jan. 11 that brought together 30 different religious communities from as far away as Massachusetts and Ohio. Visitors could learn about vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and the event was open to both the parish and the community. The council also sponsored a bus trip to the 2009 March for Life in Washington, D.C. Forty-two people participated in the daylong trip.
John Paul II Council 13935 in Milford donated $5,000 to several local agencies, including the Pike County Development Center, ARC and the Tri-State Pregnancy Resource Center, among others.
