10/22/2008 Parental Notification Initiative Leads 52% to 33% among Likely California Voters
A newly released survey of California voters shows Proposition 4, a proposed law that would require a waiting period and parental notification before a girl under 18 was allowed to have an abortion - has a 19 percentage point lead among likely voters, 52% to 33%. The poll was conducted for the Knights of Columbus by the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion between September 28 and October 5, 2008.

A new poll of California voters shows Proposition 8, a proposed constitutional amendment that would reserve marriage for opposite-sex couples, has a 9 percentage point lead among likely voters, 52% to 43%. The poll was conducted for the Knights of Columbus by the Marist College Institute of Public Opinion between September 28 and October 5, 2008.

A nationwide poll shows that 35 years after the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its decision in Roe v. Wade, public support for the court’s unrestricted access to abortion throughout an entire pregnancy stands at just 8 percent. The poll was conducted for the Knights of Columbus by the Marist College Institute of Public Opinion.
2/28/2008 Abortion Proponents Back Down on AIDS Legislation
Faced with firm opposition from the Knights of Columbus, the U.S Bishops Conference, many other pro-life groups, and the White House, the House Foreign Affairs Committee has agreed to drop language that would have opened the door to using AIDS relief funds to pay for abortions in Africa. The committee’s action was taken during a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson thanked President Bush for vetoing H.R. 810, the so-called “Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act,” which would have, for the very first time, provided federal funds for research in which human embryos are destroyed.

Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson said June 7 that the U.S. Senate’s failure to approve the Marriage Protection Amendment is “deeply disappointing,” and noted the irony of the fact that the 49-48 vote “comes one day after Alabama became the 20th state to adopt a state constitutional amendment protecting marriage.”
